The Oscar winning actress says that instead of using Emma professionally, she would rather be called by her real name.
Under his stage name, Emma Stone has won two oscar award and her movies collects $1 billion at the box office. But she now wants to be called by her real name, which is her real name.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, her co-star on the strange TV show The Curse, Nathan Fielder, said that actors who worked with her called her Emily.
Fielder said: “Before we continue, I’d like to say something. Her name’s Emily, but she goes by Emma professionally. So when there’s people that don’t know her, I end up saying Emma. But I’m going to just say Emily from here on.”
“You can say Emma,” Stone replied. Say whatever you want. She said, “No” when asked if she would tell a fan who called her Emily that she was wrong. That would be really nice. “I’d like to be Emily.”
Stone said she worked under the name Emma because another actress in the Sag-Aftra union had already taken it. To work on Hollywood movies, you have to be a member of the union.
Stone won her first Oscar as an actress in 2017 for her lead role in La La Land. This year, she won her second Oscar for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, a period fantasy comedy based on the book by Alasdair Gray. Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, and Ramy Youssef are also in it. Yorgos Lanthimos directed it.
Lily Gladstone was a favorite to win the Best Actor award for her part in Killers of the Flower Moon. During Stone’s acceptance speech at the Academy Awards, she talked about Gladstone and said she was “in awe” of her. And I hope we keep doing this together. It’s been an honor to work with you on this.
In the end, she thanked everyone who worked on Poor Things, including Lanthimos: “Thank you for this gift of a lifetime in the role of Bella.”
After that, Stone praised her parents, brother, husband, and daughter, who will be three in three days and has made our lives brighter. I love you more than the sky.
Stone is set to appear in Lanthimos’s next movie, Kinds of Kindness. It will be shown for the first time at Cannes next month.
